This week we shared coffee with Charlotte in Buckinghamshire and got chatting about her life with British Shorthair, Louie.
So tell us all about Louie and how you met.
We met when he was a tiny kitten, I chose him for his adorable little white beard. He’s a British Shorthair and is now two! We call Mr Meowgi from time to time.
What do you do for a living when you’re not spending your time with Louie?
I currently work for the NHS in the mental health team. I changed careers just over a year ago, I used to be a senior land buyer for a retirement development company.
Is that your dream job now, or would there be something else you’d absolutely love to do?
If I could I’d travel the world and get paid to do it!
Ahh, now that would be the dream. But back to reality, how does your usual morning routine go down on the weekends?
If I can it will usually start with a little yoga session. Followed by coffee and porridge to get me ready for the day. My favourite thing about a Saturday is having a slow, relaxing morning with no need to set an alarm.
If you had £5 to spend over the weekend on a little treat, what would you choose?
I’d definitely go for a new house plant because you can never have too many! If the budget was a little bigger, I’d probably go and get my hair done then meet friends at my favourite pub for Sunday Lunch.
Do you have an anthem to go with your Saturday mornings?
Zac Brown Band – Chicken Fried *adds to playlist*
So have you always been a cat person when it comes down to it, or did Louie help you see the light?
Yes, I have always loved them and their unpredictable ways. I grew up with cats and couldn’t wait to get one of my own.
Do you have any cool cat-person things at home?
Absolutely. Probably the best thing is a cat window hammock that Louie loves.
Are there any sneaky snacks you feed him that maybe you shouldn’t?
He’s obsessed with cheddar cheese. As soon as I open it he knows, so he does get a little bit of cheese from time to time.
And to finish off, is there anything Louie absolutely hates with a passion?
Oh, wasps for sure. He’s allergic and unfortunately, we found out the hard way – it felt like an apocalypse situation but luckily he was alright in the end.
