This weekend we spoke to Wanda and Matt and learnt a little bit about their life with their rescue cat, Claude.
We already love his name, but tell us more about Claude. How did you guys come to be a family?
His name is amazing, we never actually call him any nicknames, he is always Claude. Claude was looking for a new home as his owner was moving back to Poland. We heard through a friend that he would soon be homeless so we went to visit him. He was so loving and gentle and we fell for him straight away. We all live together in North Lincolnshire but Claude was originally from Grimsby. He’s nearly 8 now, and is a tabby cat but he is huge.
Have you both always been cat people?
I’ve actually always had dogs before Claude, but Matt has always had cats. He’s a true cat person.
So what do your weekends look like as a three, what’s your usual Saturday morning routine?
We look forward to time at home at the weekend but Claude doesn’t understand the sanctity of days off. He still wakes us up at 4am as if it’s a weekday and sits with us for a while until he realises we’re definitely not getting up and then he’ll have another sleep. We’ll get another wake-up call at 7am and we eventually get up to feed him.
Speaking of treats, are they any sneaky snacks you feed him that you maybe shouldn’t?
Actually yes, cheesy wotsits! He loves them.
Do you have any cool cat-person things around the home?
Matt has the best pair of socks with Claude’s photo on them.
They sound incredible and we’re sure Claude appreciates them too. But is there anything he truly hates?
In typical cat fashion, he hates all cat beds no matter how many we buy.
If you had £5 to spend on anything over the weekend, what would it be and why?
It would be something for the garden, as we spend a lot of our time off there. It’s the perfect weekend activity to decompress from our busy weeks. That or we’d put it towards some nice food as we both love to cook at home.
A pretty perfect weekend if you ask us. One final question, do you have an anthem to accompany your weekend activities?
Honestly anything by Mumford and Sons, we’re big fans.
